I've learned a few things this past week, first is it might be a long time before I have kids of my own! My brother-in-law has been sick since last Wednesday so my sister has been "Crashing"  here so she can keep the kids out of her germ-infested house, I assumed that a 7 and 4 year old would sleep until at least 9,,I've been getting woken up at 7am almost everyday! I'm a night worker, I get off at 12:30am and my schedule is such a mess that I can't even get to sleep until at least 4 because I'm so wired, so getting up at 7 was not even an option for me. This morning my 4-year-old neice came into my room, punched me in the face to wake me up and when I wouldn't move she stole my phone and ran upstairs. She must've been a bit shocked when she realized I couldn't have cared less that she took the irritating device. As long as she doesn't dial 911, I dont care what she does with it. Anyway, I've encountered a new-found respect for my parents who at one point had 3 babies under age 5, my dad drove a semi at night so really he worked from 5am to around 3pm then had to come home with the house a mess and my mom ready to pull her hair out; how they got through it, I'll never know, I just know I could never be that strong, I just dont have the patience for that. Maybe some day ...  

Today, March 5th, 2010 is the "World Day of Prayer".  Not a great deal is said about it nor do many people actively participate in daily prayer as we should let alone a day set aside to pray for those around this world.

I attended a service today to pray for those who actively serve as missionaries for The Salvation Army throughout the world where the gospel of Jesus Christ is ministered to.

To be able to attend without fear of being punished and to freely come and go made me realize how much I take my freedom for granted.   I indeed am a blessed American.

Another thing that happened was that different nationalities were present and as prayers were being lifted up I heard prayers not only in English, but Korean, Spanish, and various other languages being lifted up to our Father.  Wow !! A loving Father who understands and smiles upon His children as they pour their hearts out to Him in one accord. Truly amazing but most of all a reminder of just how awesome our God is !!

Just think, every moment of the day someone is praying to our Father because of the different time zones. Isn't that wonderful to know?
Everyday we should set aside time to pray and spend time with God and not make excuses such as "I don't have the time" !!   Make the time as He made the time for each us.

my friend alicia is a cutter.  i never spoke about it with anyone from chat. its really hard to understand. i have tried to help her but it hasnt worked so i wrote her a poem  trying to put myself in her place Im hoping it might help.                                                                                                        Im more afraid of living than i am dying. Im more afraid of  failing than i am trying. The less i cut the more i bleed. Im so messed up on whats inside of me. Cant you see!  Cant you see ! Sometimes we tend to ignore a cry for help when we see one.  The truth is that we all get weak from time to time and we want someone to reach out to us and catch us or pick us up when we fall down, but many of us if not all are too busy with our own agendas, whether it be chatting in the chat room for a laugh, going to important meetings, or investing our time in some sort of leisure activity when it comes to helping others.  We tend to see those in need but don't realize how disheartening and unloving it really is to those people when we pass them by.  How do we feel when people do that to us?  Of course; we hurt from it!

Jesus had compassion for the people he helped and for those he taught, as well as those who loathed him, and that is why this commandment became one of the most important ones.

HOW CAN WE IMPROVE OUR LOVE OF SELF?

Love is imperative to a healthy, happy and fulfilled life that we all seek after.  The life God approves and desires for us to live is quite simple to achieve, if we would only let go of our own inhibitions.  In order to love others, we must first love and accept ourselves.  According to Ephesians 5:29, “…no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church” and from this verse, we can infer that it is not normal to hate one self.  In order to develop a healthy self-esteem and improve our self love, we must first deal with whatever is hindering us from our personal relationship with God.  Read more...

I just want to thank God that I passed my Driving test today.

Day 1 - Today I started to get back into shape... I worked out for about 2 months before I went to Zambia last year, but since I got back in November have been so busy with work I have not had time to get down to the gym. So today I decided no more being lazy lets get back in shape!

Started today with Chest and Back work out - which consisted of Standard press ups, standard pull ups, wide press ups, wide pull ups, military style press ups, lawnmowers (with weights), heavy pants (with weights) decline push ups, wide arm push ups, narrow grip pull ups, under arm pull ups and pull downs with the weight machine.... to mix it up a little I also got on the powerplate machine to do some crunches for my abs.

Not bad for day 1.... went home and had a big bowl of mixed fruit too - need to get back to taking protein before I work out in future.
